The current retirement age at FIGP is 60. However, employers in Japan are required by law to provide the option of employment extension for workers between the ages of 60 and 65. Though retirement pension is not mandatory for employers in Japan, FIGP established a pension system applicable to all permanent employees, which pays retirement benefits based on retirees’ seniority in length of service and rank at the time of retirement. Upon employees’ completing three years of employment, FIGP starts matching employee contribution to ensure their financial security after retiring.
